The Irregular Guide to Norwich

SS 18 Prints (2)

From castles or crab meat, tea rooms to treasure-filled lanes, Norwich has something for everyone!

Imeldas is the home of Irregular Choice in the city, and the team have pooled their local knowledge to create the perfect guide to the city, irregular style!

STAY

What hotels/accommodation offer the most uplifting stay?

St Giles House Hotel, with its super regal presence, is the perfect place to spoil yourself on a trip to Norwich (and wear those Abigail Partys you've been dying to showcase!) It's in a great location close to The Norwich Theatre Royal and Castle Museum (and the yummy waffle house mentioned below...)

EAT

Where do you go for a yummy breakfast?

The waffle house is just a hop, skip and a jump from the St Giles hotel and offers an irregular girl's perfect selection of Belgium waffles. MMMmmmmmmm.

Most quirky coffee shop?

The Cafe at Urban Jungle is the best irregular pitstop on your adventures around the city. With its luscious garden, you're basically drinking your coffee inside our Magic Garden wedge! Unfortunately, giraffes and deer don't roam in the cafe garden, however...

Most amazing flavours of Icecream?

Keep your trip irregular by trying unexpected combos such as fig and ricotta at Café Gelato, on Opie Street. You'll thank us later!

What's the most irregular place to go to eat?

Biddy’s Tea Room, on Lower Goat Lane, is not just a tea room but an irregular experience, a 'must' on a trip to Norwich!

Local delicacy we mustn’t miss?
Cromer crab of the market is freshly caught and delicious! It's known as the 'best crab in Norwich' and supplies many of the local restaurants. It's best eaten in a bread roll with balsamic vinegar and salad cream!

IMMERSE YOURSELF

What do you consider your most beautiful street?
Elm Hill is a lovely, quiet cobbled street lined with independent shops like a bookshop and bridal boutique. Take a relaxing stroll down this road towards the Church.

Where do you wander to get inspired?
The Cathedral is one of the most inspiring places in Norwich, built in 1096, it is steeped in history and is open to the public for free. This awe-inspiring place also plays host to orchestral concerts, choral concerts, jazz ensembles and lectures. Pulls Ferry is also a beautiful place to visit.

Where to go to experience your culture first hand?

The Norwich Playhouse is always a great evening out. It is recognised as one of the best comedy venues in East Anglia and champion shows that "are just a bit...different". From big names to those just starting out, this is a fab place to enjoy an irregular evening!

Best park to see colourful flowers?

Awaken your senses at The Plantation Gardens, Norwich's hidden gem. The walled Victorian gardens feature lush flower beds, fountains and an elaborate walking path so you can get lost in all its floral beauty.

PLAY

Most fun to have with kids?

The dungeons at Norwich castle are a spooky delight (and informative - bonus!)

Where to dance like nobody's watching?

Gonzo’s tea room is a MUST on an irregular trip to Norwich. What is Gonzo's tea room you ask? Well, it sits somewhere between a coffee shop, bar, music venue and discotheque, making it the best and most irregular place to dance the night away!

SHOP

What area would you say an Irregular girl would love to shop in?

The Norwich Lanes and The Royal Arcade are both picturesque and packed full of exciting independent shops - perfect!
